Alvin R. Whiteaker of Richland Center, WI has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.
What remains is memory — and the gratitude of those he loved.
Alvin spent his working life as ['farm hand for his brother-in-law Phillip Gunderson'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
What we carry forward is the light others gave us.
Alvin R. Whiteaker, 70, of Richland Center died on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at home. He was born on July 7, 1955 at home in Crawford County the son of Gerald and Aurelia (Knaus) Whiteaker. Alvin worked as a farm hand for his brother-in-law Phillip Gunderson. He went to work with Earl Compton in small engines. On October 17, 1987 he was united in marriage to Laura Johnson at the Rockbridge Park. Alvin had many hobbies such as: hunting, fishing, demolition derbies and being outdoors. He loved spending time with his many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Alvin is survived by his wife Laura Whiteaker;
Two sisters: Mae Halverson and Rose (Paul) Gunderson;
Five brothers: Elmer Whiteaker, Raymond (Liz) Whiteaker, Harold (Eldora) Whiteaker, Cecil Whiteaker, Ted (Jill) Whiteaker;
In-laws: Leroy Johnson, Luann (Ed) Brown, Leonard (Tammy) Johnson:
Special friends: Dean and Susan Aide, Rick and Julie Pine, Gail Valstad, Craig and Sara Demler;
Many special nieces and nephews.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Aurelia Whiteaker; father and mothers in-laws: Alfred, Janet, and Helen Johnson; brothers Verlin Wesley, and Gary; sisters Dena Hatlan, Mildred and Estel Whiteaker; brothers-in-law: David Halverson, Phillip Gunderson, Junior Hatlan; sister-in-law Amy Whiteaker.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Pratt Community Hall from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM with a burial to follow in the Woodstock Cemetery. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
