Alvin Ruark Sr. of Good Hope, GA has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

Alvin held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

RUARK – Alvin Russell Ruark, Sr., age 93, of Good Hope, GA, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM for visitation with service immediately following on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church, 1041 Church Street, Bostwick, GA with Pastor Justin Mahaffey officiating. Alvin was a family man and dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his beloved great grand dog, Pearl. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict and was a proud veteran. Alvin retired as President of The National Bank of Walton County, in Loganville, GA where he worked from 1973-1994. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping with his family and tending to his garden. He was a member of Gibbs Memorial Baptist Church for many years where he served as the eldest Deacon. Alvin was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Iola "Ola" Ruark; parents, James Russell and Inez (Jones) Ruark; grandson, Travis Ruark; brother Tim Ruark, Sr.; and Twin brother Alton Ruark; sister, Evelyn R. Coggin; daughter-in-law, Ginger Ruark; and son-in-law, Steve Qualls. He is survived by his children, Teresa Qualls of Good Hope, Jeff & Melanie Ruark of Bostwick, and Rev. Rusty Ruark of Loganville; grandchildren, Azalea Qualls of Good Hope, Timothy Alvin Qualls of Good Hope, Kristi and Adam Thompson of Gratis, Katie Ruark of Bostwick, Grace Ruark of Loganville, and Carrie Ruark of Loganville; great grandchildren, Allie Thompson, Nolan Thompson, Kenslee Anderson, and Christopher Anderson; sister, Kathryn Cabaniss; numerous family and friends.
