Barbara Ann "Barb" Johnson of Geneva, IL has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

Below, a small portrait of a life that will not soon be forgotten.

We measure lives in love, not minutes.

Barbara Ann (Dungey) Johnson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026, surrounded by family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Barbara was born on September 27, 1942 to Lee Burton and Laura (Hopkins) Dungey. Barbara graduated from Batavia High School in 1960. She worked at the Hilton in Aurora prior to working in acquisitions at Furnas Electric in Batavia.

She met her first and only love, Roger A. Johnson, through a blind date and was instantly smitten. They married on August 31, 1963. Barbara left the workplace the next year and gave birth to the first of her two children. Once the children were school age she found her true vocational calling working as a reference librarian at the St. Charles Public Library. With her curiosity of learning and gift of always wanting to help, Barb elevated this role and remained for over 40 years. Barbara loved to travel and garden, which is evident by the beautiful landscaping at their home and photos from her many trips.

Barb is survived by Roger, her husband of 62 years; her daughter Jill Johnson, her son Eric (Linda) Johnson; three grandchildren Jacob Johnson, Madelaine Vikse, and Evan Johnson; her siblings Lori Ortiz, Lee C. Dungey, Susan Baird; several nieces and nephews, and her closest friends and co-workers from the St. Charles Public Library.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Burton and Laura (Hopkins) Dungey, and sister Linda Bergeson.
