Benjamin Roy Gallegos of Salt Lake City, UT has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

Benjamin Roy Gallegos of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 22, 2026, due to complications from pneumonia. Benny was born in Salt Lake City on August 21, 1965, to Thomas and Edna Gallegos. He was the youngest of five children, with three sisters and one brother.
He grew up in Salt Lake City and attended South High School, where he formed lifelong friendships with Eddie Martinez, Doug Cowan, George Gavros, and many others.
Benny was charming, outgoing, and had a great sense of humor. He loved staying active and enjoyed attending concerts, comedy shows, and festivals, as well as spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite memories were made on trips to the lake and at out-of-town family reunions. In his younger years, he was known for riding a unicycle while carrying an enormous "boom box"-a moment many will never forget.
Benny had a passion for the culinary arts and built a career as a chef, working his way up in several well-known local establishments, including Le Parisien, Fort Douglas Country Club, the JCC, and others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lillian, and her husband, Donald McComas; his sister, Diane Loumis; his brother, Tommy Gallegos; and his nephew, Isaac Martinez.
He is survived by his daughter, Katrina (Chase) Warren; his grandchildren, Lucas, Leo, and Bria Warren; his sister, Geraldine (Ross) Valdez; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 16, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Legends Pub & Grill Downtown, 677 South 200 West. All are welcome to attend.
