Charles Dean Moore of Mitchell, IN has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.
Some lives speak quietly; his is one such story.
To raise a child is to give the world a future. Charles did this with care.
MITCHELL – Charles Dean Moore, 75, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, at his residence.
Born December 18, 1950, in Bedford, he was the son of Wilbert and Colleen (Meadows) Moore. He married Judith Poole in 1969, and she preceded him in death in 1980. He then married Annetta Kaye Payton on August 1, 1980, and she preceded him in death February 22, 2022.
Dean was a 1969 graduate of Tunnelton High School. He retired after 34 years at General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 440. Dean loved working with his hands and woodworking. He enjoyed mowing his yard, sitting outside looking at flowers, and being with his dog, Remington. Most of all Dean loved his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play.
Survivors include his children, Keenan Snow of Mitchell, Lora (Andy) Stewart of Bloomington, Deana (Jerry) Nicholson of Springville, Nathan Snow of Mitchell, and Rickey Moore of Mitchell; grandchildren, Tad Stewart, Tate Stewart, Titus Stewart, Maria Stewart, Devin Nicholson, Zander Nicholson, and Hunter Moore; great grandchildren, Tue Stewart, Tari Stewart, Tyr Stewart, Tilly Stewart, Genesis Lyons, and Zakhari Lyons; and siblings, Tommy Moore of Mitchell, Jimmy (Kathy) Moore of Buddha, and Beverley Kern of Mitchell.
His parents; wives; and siblings, Rickey Moore, and Debbie Goens Wright, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Dr. Robert C. Courson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Tunnelton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, and from 10:30 until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
