Commander Wayne Vanderslice, U.S. Navy (Retired), 79, of The Cypress at Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.Born in Abington, PA, he was the son of Jim & Florence (Knipe) Vanderslice. He was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, OH, and the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.Following his 22 years in the Navy, he served in various roles and started his own financial services company.Throughout his life, he had a passion for music, singing with and directing church choirs, choral organizations, and barbershop groups. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with family and friends at Hilton Head National Golf Course, Country Club of Hilton Head, and The Cypress.He is survived by the love of his life and wife, Jeanne Vanderslice. They created a fun-filled, magical life together for 57 years.He is also survived by his son, Chad (Nichole) Vanderslice, and daughter, Cari (Greg) Pavlichko, grandchildren Alex, Zach, Brandon & Chase, sister June (Bill) Hull, sisters-in-law Joyce (Frank) Luff and Carole (Ron) Borghi, one niece and several nephews, and great nieces and nephews.His love for his children and grandchildren was without limit, and his spirit, kindness, and goodwill will live with them forever.The Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church Hilton Head Island, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926, at 10:00 AM.Interment will be at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s name can be made to First Presbyterian Church Hilton Head Island music ministry fund, or the Michael J Fox Foundation to support Parkinson’s research.
