Dana Diane Boynton of Bethany, OK, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.
What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.
Some legacies are not written; they walk the earth, named after those who came before.
Dana Diane Boynton, age 61, was born July 8, 1964, in Oklahoma City to Donald "Don" and Patricia Campbell. Dana went to her heavenly home on May 3, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Dana graduated from Putnam City Original class of 1983 and then attended Duncan Brothers School of hair design. On February 26, 1985, she married her "honey," Kyle Boynton, and together they had two daughters, Ashlee and Lacee. Dana dedicated her time to raising their girls, even following them to elementary school where she would volunteer as homeroom mom, attend every field trip, and plan all holiday parties.
Dana then began her career as Special Education Paraprofessional at Lake Park Elementary and retired after 32 years of service. During her career, she formed many lasting friendships and was often a mentor to fellow educators. She loved the many children she taught and would provide resources to parents of special needs children such as haircuts or babysitting during the summer. Because of her servant's heart, Dana received the Golden Apple award, which is the highest honor in Putnam City School District.
Dana loved her cabin in Eufaula and always had a "we'll make room" attitude for anyone who wanted to join. She mostly enjoyed sitting with friends and family at her rock table where she had morning coffee or listened to the whippoorwills at night. Her grandchildren were her most cherished "ladybugs" and she would tell them, "I love you to the moon and back." The friendships Dana built throughout her life were one of her most cherished possessions. She was often on the phone catching up or having friends over for football games, pool parties, or just enjoying their company.
Dana was preceded in death by her father, Donald Campbell and her brother, Darin Campbell. Survivors include her mother, Patricia Campbell; husband, Kyle Boynton; daughter, Ashlee Oman and husband Jon; daughter, Lacee Boynton; and 5 grandchildren, Brinley, Sydnee, Kynzee, Harper, and Olivia. She is also survived by her niece, Jesi York and husband Blake, and their two children, Natali and Miles.
The legacy Dana leaves behind cannot be measured in titles or timelines. It is found in the people she impacted, the laughter she created, the strength she demonstrated, and the way she made others feel. Dana never met a stranger, and more importantly, she never let anyone feel like one. Her kindness, warmth, and servant's heart left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Our family would like to personally thank her caregivers, Candice and Danny. She loved and cherished their friendships.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 8 at 1:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany, OK with interment following in Bethany Cemetery.
