David John Weese, age 82 of Old Fields, WV, passed away Sunday evening, May 3, 2026, at the E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV. Born on July 19, 1943, in Forman, WV, David was a beloved son of the late Berkley Osburn Weese and Grace Charlotte Keplinger Weese. A brother, Harry and sisters, Luella Leason, Dorothy Kesner and Mary Jane Fontanazza also preceded him in death.David dedicated an impressive 53 years to the open road, working as a truck driver for Pilgrim Pride. Whether it was over the road, maneuvering around the yard as a yard jockey, or bringing a sense of security to his colleagues as a security guard, he embraced every role with dedication and passion.A true outdoorsman at heart, David cherished the days spent with his brother, Harry, in the woods. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, embracing the tranquility that nature offered. He had a special love for cozy evenings spent in his favorite chair, watching old westerns and talking with friends over the CB radio—always ready to offer the best travel routes and directions to family members heading out on their journeys.Surviving is his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Mae Barr Weese; three sons, Berkley E. Weese of Moorefield, WV, David A. Weese of Petersburg, WV and Israel J. Weese of Old Fields, WV; a sister, Nancy Helmick of Moorefield, WV; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.To celebrate David’s extraordinary life, funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, located at 107 Washington Street with Pastor D. J. Taylor officiant.
