David R. Thompson of Kane, PA, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.
Here is the shape of a life remembered with love.
Years are made of mornings, and mornings of moments.
Kane, PA---David Ronald Thompson, born on October 8, 1953, in Buffalo, NY, reached the end of the road on May 4, 2026, in Kane, PA, at the ripe age of 72. David may have clocked out early due to complications from a stroke, but he sure had one heck of a ride while he was here.
For 48 years, David was the man you wanted under the hood when your car was making that funny noise. As an automobile mechanic, he could make engines purr like kittens and encouraged many a jalopy to go the extra mile. His true passion, though, lay in building hot rod cars, which he pursued with the same gusto as he did everything else in life. When he wasn't elbow-deep in engine grease, David could be found enjoying the company of horses. Some say he understood them better than most people.
David was the beloved husband of Sheila Can Thompson, who managed to put up with his greasy hands and punny jokes for 46 wonderful years. His legacy is carried on by his son, Christopher Caro, and daughter-in-law Betty, not to mention his brother Raymond Thompson and sister-in-law Sharon. David's pride and joy, granddaughter Sophia Caro, will no doubt carry forward his unique blend of humor and horsepower.
Predeceased by his parents, Raymond Donald "Don" Thompson and Lillian Mary Mayer Thompson, David is now reunited with them, probably joking about old times and discussing automotive repairs beyond the pearly gates.
As per David's wishes, he has been cremated, and no formal services will be held. In classic David fashion, he'd rather you raise a glass, share a laugh, and remember the good times instead of gathering around in somber attire.
Though he's shifted gears into the great beyond, David Ronald Thompson leaves behind a world that was richer for the exhaust fumes of his laughter and love.
