Debra Sue Kelly of Sulphur, OK, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.
Below, the family shares some of what made her life meaningful.
Every life leaves an echo in the lives it has known.
Debra Sue Kelly, 71, of Sulphur, Oklahoma was born in Eloy, Arizona and went home to be with her Lord and Savior at home on April 30, 2026. Debbie married the love of her life Larry, and built a home in Sulphur with their children. Where you saw one, you always saw the other, and they never met a stranger. They lived by a code of "do unto others as you would have done unto you!" Debbie had an amazing 25-year career at Sulphur Public Schools where she loved thousands of children and was frequently called grandma by the kids. Even after she retired, she couldn't stay away from the school and continued to substitute for classrooms and attend every ball game that she could. She loved watching the students that she loved and watched grow as children, come back and work at the school. She said, "it made it come full circle watching them teach/coach her children and grandchildren.
Debbie had a great love for her family and would chase her grandkids across the state watching them pursue the sports and activities that they loved. Debbie loved her husband, fishing, adventures, getting her nails done, spending time with her family and friends, and eating good food.
After retirement, Debbie traveled with the love of her life from Niagara Falls to the Unnamed Tomb and every KOA within a 2-thousand-mile drive, until she could no longer physically do it. After that she shared the adventures with her children. Last year she checked off her bucket list item of going to Florida and spending the week watching the waves roll in and her greatest adventure yet, Parasailing! She said that it was the best day of her life, and it felt like she was flying with Larry. She was already preparing for her next adventure before her passing.
Debbie is survived by her Son, David Kelly of California; daughters, Misty Raymo and husband Ryan of Sulphur, Crystal Jenkins of Burneyville, Oklahoma; grandchildren; Tiffany Kelly, Derek Shively and Erica Wood, Karolina Kelly, Launa Raymo and Skylar Joslin, Hayden Raymo, Jaycen Kelly, David Jenkins Jr., Kylee Jenkins, great- grandchildren; Greyson Kelly, Noah Rodriquez, Abigail Kelly-Coon; sisters Linda Hurst, Mary Gillette and husband Lynn; brothers Rick Hurst, Jim Hurst, Raymond and Samantha Hurst, Bobby Hurst, and Darrell Hurst, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Kelly, her daughter Susan Renee Kelly, brother Doug Hurst, Mother Mary Hurst, Father Richard Hurst, mother-in-law Loretta Campbell, and grandson Kyle David Kelly.
