Donald E. "Don" Bramley of Petersburg, KY, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.
Here is a glimpse of the life he lived, in his family's own remembrance.
There is a discipline of duty that shapes a life long after the uniform is set aside.
Donald "Don" E. Bramley, 78, of Petersburg, Kentucky, passed away on April 21, 2026. He was born on July 27, 1947, in Denison, Iowa, to the late Thomas Bramley and Lola Agnes Bramley (née Argostinger).
Don was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Don Retired in 2006 from Monsanto Port Plastic Plant which changed to Bayer then to Lanxess, after 36 years of employment. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family deeply. Cecilia was not only his wife, but his best friend, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and memories.
He found his greatest joy in simple things-being outside, tending to his garden, and spending time with those he loved. He was especially known for his tomatoes and cucumbers, and for always being happiest in the fresh air, surrounded by trees. Don loved to cook for his family and took pride in bringing everyone together around the table. He lived by the belief to "love thy neighbor," and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Though quiet, he had a gentle way about him and loved to share a laugh with those he loved the most. Don was a steady and present father, and his sons will always cherish the memories of camping trips they shared together. Don and Cecilia shared a love of travel, visiting all 50 states-Alaska being his favorite for its breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife-as well as Canada, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. They traveled by car, plane, bus, train, and cruise, always looking forward to their next adventure as they traveled the open road. However, no matter the journey to reach each destination, it was always about being together.
He was also a member of the Lions Club.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Cecilia Bramley (née Vaske); his sons, Andy (Beckey) Bramley and Mike (Tina) Bramley; his grandchildren, Chris, Hailey, and Braden; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his siblings, Lloyd, Leland, Raymond, Robert, Clara Mae Malone, Wayne, and Dwight.
