Gary E. Pollock of Canfield, OH has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

Gary spent his working life as ['the consumer finance industry'] and held deeply to the Presbyterian faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Canfield - Gary E. Pollock departed May 1st, 2026 at 12:45 pm with his family at his side.He was born July 23rd, 1935 in Youngstown, OH, a son of the late Paul Pollock and the former Beulah E. True.Gary was a graduate of Poland Seminary High School. He attended Poland Presbyterian Church where he also served as a deacon.After a short period at McKay Machines, he pursued a long and successful career in the consumer finance industry. He was President of Bell Finance Company in Youngstown, and served as President of the Ohio Consumer Finance Association (OCFA). During that time he was also President of Downtown Kiwanis of Youngstown. Later he assumed the role of VP for Lender's Service of Pittsburgh, PA., then Exec. VP of Nations Title.Gary belonged to the Youngstown Country Club, where he participated in and won the Member Guest and Old Pals Tournaments. He secured the Old Pals tournament victory alongside his friend, "Wiz" Williams.Gary loved the game of golf and his golfing buddies, right through last year. He enjoyed Golden Gloves boxing at Struthers Field House and attended many professional boxing bouts with his son and friends. He also enjoyed stock car racing including having attended the Daytona 500 over twenty times with family and close friends. He was the first 4-H King at the Canfield Fair. Gary is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol J. Pollock (Barney), his son Jeffrey, his daughter Karan S. Stempko, and his grandson Dr. J. Drake Wakefield of Scottsdale, AZ.Gary was laid to rest in Canfield Cemetery.Gary chose to forgo services and in his own words, he "hopes friends and family will find a favorite spot, smile, remember, and toast to good memories.”Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
