Georgia Arlene Loberg of Hot Springs, SD, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.

What was given remains, even when the giver is gone.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Georgia Arlene Loberg, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Georgia departed this world peacefully on May 2, 2026, at the age of 88, in Hot Springs, SD, surrounded by love and care of her daughter, Pine Hills Retirement Community and Stillwater Hospice. Her life was a tapestry of rich experiences and deep connections, woven with the threads of family and friendships.Georgia was born on October 26, 1937, in Britton, SD, to George and Erma Cole. From an early age, she embodied the spirit of perseverance and love that would characterize her entire life. She grew up on a farm near Langford, SD, and she graduated from Langford High School in 1956, laying the foundation for a life filled with learning and growth. Georgia took great pleasure in being raised “A Farm Girl”.On April 28, 1956, Georgia married the love of her life, Carmon Lee Loberg, in Langford, SD. They were blessed with two daughters, Kim Leeann and Penni Jean. Together, they built a life full of adventure and shared dreams, living in Veblen, Rapid City and Buffalo Gap. Their journey took them through various fulfilling careers, including her memorable roles at the Bank in Buffalo Gap, and as a proud owner with Carmon of The Stockman's Bar and Cafe also in Buffalo Gap. Georgia joined Carmon as his Team Driver after the girls left home, and together they crossed the country as truck drivers for East West Motor Express of Black Hawk, SD, a testament to their shared love of adventure and each other's company.Georgia was blessed with a family that she loved fiercely. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Penni (Tom) Miller of Hot Springs, SD, her loving granddaughter Laura (Ryan) Bowar, and her cherished great-grandchildren Katherine and Weston Bowar of Casper, WY. Her family also includes her grandson Chance Dumire, along with five sister-in-laws, two brother-in-laws, and an array of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Carmon Loberg, her daughter Kim Dumire, her son-in-law Jerry Dumire, her granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Miller, her parents, and a host of siblings, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. Their memories live on in the stories and love she shared with those around her.Georgia was a woman of remarkable character, known for her quick wit, sassiness, and a strong personality that left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she found great joy in simple pleasures like working in her yard, sewing for her family, baking pies, and spending time with her loved ones.A celebration of Georgia's life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Chamberlain McColley Funeral Home, located at 401 North Garden Street, Hot Springs, SD. Donations may be made to the Minnekahta Valley Cemetery, by way of Chamberlain McColleys Funeral Home.The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Pine Hills Retirement Community and Stillwater Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. We are forever grateful for the love and kindness shown to Georgia in her final days.Georgia’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the enduring power of family. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, laughter, and an unbreakable bond with those she loved. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
