The family of Charlotte Reo-Haggerty of Clinton, NJ announces her passing, and invites all who knew her to remember her here.
A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of her story.
Memory has a way of softening time.
Charlotte Reo-Haggerty, lovingly known to her family as "GG," passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on March 16, 1933, in Jersey City, Charlotte lived a life defined by love, resilience, and a deep devotion to her family, her friends, and her faith in God.
The beloved daughter of Joseph and Mary Barbossa, Charlotte carried forward the values she learned early in life-kindness, generosity, and strength-into every role she embraced. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Donald Haggerty, and the dear sister of the late Marie Bartlomei. Above all, she was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from the family she nurtured across three generations.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Donohue (the late Timothy) and Charlene Budinich; her son-in-law, Dennis Budinich; her cherished grandchildren, Stefan Squires (Kristen), Monica Barber (Ryan), Lauren Walden (Christopher), Evan Budinich (Ada-Lynn), and Michael Donohue (Maureen); and her adored great-grandchildren, Madison Squires, Amelia Barber, Drew Barber, and Stella Walden.
To her family, she was simply "GG"-a name that became synonymous with warmth, comfort, and unconditional love.
Charlotte had a remarkable way of showing up for the people in her life. Through her kind words, thoughtful actions, and steady presence, she taught those around her what it truly means to care for others. She was generous in spirit, rich in wisdom, and always found a way to offer encouragement-even during life's most difficult moments. Grounded in her love for God and her faithful spirit, she approached life with hope, trust, and quiet strength. No matter the challenge, she looked for the silver lining and held firmly to hope for the future.
Her home was often filled with the aroma of her cooking and baking-she was widely known as a wonderful cook, especially for her delicious, deviled eggs, using food as another way to bring people together and make them feel loved. She was also an avid reader, had beautiful penmanship, loved doing crossword puzzles, and found joy in nurturing her plants, reflecting her natural gift for cultivating life and beauty in all forms.
Charlotte had a unique ability to connect with others quickly, making friends feel like family and family feel deeply valued. She remained active throughout her life, even working part-time into her 80s, demonstrating her strong spirit and love for staying engaged with people.
But above all else, her greatest passion was her family. She treasured every moment spent singing, laughing, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These moments-simple, joyful, and filled with love-are the ones her family will carry forward and cherish forever.
Charlotte not only lived her life, but she also gave her life to her family. There were many lessons learned from the way she lived-lessons in kindness, resilience, generosity, faith, and love. She didn't just speak about these values; she lived them every day, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to guide and inspire her family for generations to come.
Charlotte "GG" Reo-Haggerty will be deeply missed, but her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her life was a gift, and her love-rooted in faith-will never fade.
