The family of Daniel Allen Fechter of El Dorado, KS announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.

A life is built quietly, day by day.
Daniel Allen Fechter, age 71 years, 10 months, & 27 days, was born June 4, 1954, to Roy and Melba (Ward) Fechter in Emporia, Kansas. He passed away peacefully with his wife Ruth, daughters Amber & Danna, and granddaughter Elizabeth by his side on May 1st, 2026.
Danny graduated from Hamilton High School in 1972, moved to El Dorado to play football at Butler County Community College.
Danny and Ruth (Lemasters) Fechter were united in marriage January 6, 1979 at Trinity Episcopal Church in El Dorado, Kansas. Danny cherished his family. He loved family vacations, making memories, spending time with his grandchildren attending their school and sporting events and supporting them. He was the best grandpa.
With his infectious personality spreading happiness and a little BS he made many lifelong friends. Dan was an avid WSU Shocker Basketball fan. He enjoyed 30+ years of annual golf trips to the Lake of the Ozarks with his High School buddies. He was proud of his Hole #7 hole in one at Bear Creek Valley Golf Club. He humored his wife by taking horseback riding trips with her, he enjoyed visiting around the campfire, and his mule "Doc".
Dan was a hard worker and loved his work and the connections he made with his customers, and co-workers. At 14 years of age, he began his lifelong passion and work in the oilfield at Long's Well Servicing in Hamilton, Kansas. His 57 year career in the oilfield continued by working for the Teichgraeber's at International Petroleum Services (IPS), Dotco Fishing tools in Colorado and Oklahoma, then back to Kansas working for the Teichgraeber's at Cardwell Supply. In 1984 Danny and Ruth purchased Cardwell Supply, naming it Whirlwind Supply. In 1994 they sold to Sunrise Oilfield Supply where he finished his career as a salesman on March 31, 2026.
Danny is survived by his wife Ruth of El Dorado; daughter Amber (Tad) McLaren of Council Grove, grandchildren Elizabeth (Cal) Kohlmeier, Daniel (his namesake who shares his birthday) & Andrew McLaren; daughter Danna (Scott) Lee of Andover, grandchildren Janae, Jordan & Jackson Lee; sister Cindy (Mike) McCartney; nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as a host of close friends, co-workers and customers. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Melba (Ward) Fechter.
Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Friday, May 8 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home in El Dorado. Dan's Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 400 W. Ash, El Dorado Saturday, May 9 at 10am. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
