The family of David J Beachy of Garnett, KS announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.

Here is what we wish the world to know of David.

It is in the silence afterward that we hear how loud a life was.

David J Beachy, 89 went home to be with his Lord on April 30, 2026 at his home with his four girls by his side.

David was born on December 17, 1936 to Joel P and Malinda (Yoder) Beachy in Thomas Oklahoma.

When David was nineteen and his parents moved to Garnett, KS where he spent a good portion of his adult life. He spent two years in 1W service at KU Medical Center working as an orderly. During that time, he met Barbara Ellen Yoder. They were married April 20, 1961, and spent almost 55 years together until her death in 2016.

David was talented in many areas. He was a farmer, a carpenter, and a rancher. He built buggies, houses and furniture. He enjoyed his cows, hogs, and horses. There wasn't much he couldn't figure out and the things he did, he did well.

David was always very active. He loved track, football and softball in his younger years. He loved to hunt and spent some of his favorite days quail and pheasant hunting with his friend and brother-in-law, Ezra and their bird dogs.

In 1993 David and Ellen moved to Leon, Iowa where they enjoyed the ranch life. Family was always an important part of their lives, and many happy memories were made fishing and picnicking by one of his ponds.

David is survived by his daughters Luane (Don) Yoder of Hutchinson, KS, Lanita (Aaron) Yoder of Manhattan, KS, Loretta (Brian) Stutzman of Leon, IA, and Diane (Brandon) Van Laar of Decatur, IA, nine grandchildren: Samantha and Emily Yoder, Reese, Annelise, Kyson and Dawson Yoder, Ridge, Kylie and Miya Stutzman and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his dear wife, Ellen, his parents, his siblings and their spouses, Melvin and Cora Beachy, Edna Mae and Amos Miller, Elizan & Perry Yoder, Susie and Ira Thomas.
