David Floyd Yardley, 78, of Rochert, MN, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, under hospice care.He was born June 27, 1947, in Moorhead, MN, to Floyd and Gladys Yardley. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Glyndon High School in 1965. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. After returning home, he built a long career working on the railroad.He married Shari Wright on November 21, 1971, and they raised two children, Ryan and Melinda, in Glyndon.He was known for his strong work ethic and steady nature, facing life’s challenges without complaint. In retirement, he fulfilled his dream of spending time at his home on Cotton Lake.He enjoyed gardening, time with family, and summer weekends at the lake with swimming, fishing, grilling, and friends. He was honest, straightforward, and a devoted family man with a positive outlook and a memorable sense of humor.He was especially proud to be “Papa” to his grandchildren, Reyna and Ryder.He is survived by his wife, Shari, Rochert; son, Ryan (Robin) Yardley, Maple Grove; daughter, Melinda Yardley, Moorhead; and grandchildren, Reyna and Ryder.He was preceded in death by his parents; half-sister, Donna Maasjo; and half-brother, Charles Dow.Visitation will be Friday, May 15, from 6:30 - 8:00 PM, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.Memorial service will be Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
