There are losses that teach us the weight of a life.
Donna Knowles Harp, age 78, formerly of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Peachtree City, Georgia. She was born on March 28, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Bernard Knowles Jr. and Opal Mae Turpin Knowles. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Beverly Bernard Knowles, and a brother-in-law, Carl Smith.
She is survived by her sister, Diane Smith; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Knowles; her brother, Brent Knowles; her sister-in-law, Glenda Knowles; and eight nieces and nephews who brought her joy and pride over the years.
Donna enjoyed a long and rewarding career with the Federal Government for 39 years before retiring in 2005 from the Federal Aviation Administration. Donna took great pride in her work and enjoyed the friendships she developed during her career. She remained closely connected with a cherished group of those friends after retirement, and together they continued to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions.
Donna was a Christian whose faith was important and gave her comfort, guidance, and strength. In her personal time, Donna loved reading, yard work, and caring for the many pets she had owned over the years. Her memory will be treasured by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A service to honor Donna's life will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment will follow the service at Stockbridge City Cemetery in Stockbridge, Georgia. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
