The family of Getty Darene Blackburn of Tomball, TX announces her passing, and invites all who knew her to remember her here.

Parenthood is the slow work of love. Getty did it well.
Getty Darene Blackburn, 77, of Tomball, Texas, passed from this life on April 28, 2026. She was born on 07/24/48 to Dollie Mae Canipe and Robert Lee Morrison in Bessemer City, North Carolina. Darene spent her young adult life in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she had her two children, Scott and Kara Blackburn. After several years enjoying the Florida coast and sunshine, they moved to Texas in 1977 and found their current home in Tomball, Texas. Darene worked many years in accounting for the main Kroger offices and later moved into oil and gas, working for Rosetta Resources where she retired.
Darene was a mother, Nana, friend, cat lover, bird watcher, master gardener, volunteer and nature lover. She loved seeing and spending time with her grandchildren the most. She spent countless hours volunteering at Mercer Arboretum and Botanical Gardens and Kleb Woods Nature Preserve and Center where she helped with events, build, plant and maintain gardens which helped support the birds, bees and animals.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Scott Blackburn, daughter Kara and Diggy(spouse) Taylor, grandchildren Seth and April(spouse) Blackburn, Hannah and Scott(spouse) Olivares, Will Blackburn, Justin Taylor and Leah Taylor. Her cherished great grandchildren are Ethan and Laina Blackburn.
Services will be held at a later date.
