Helen spent her working life as ['First Federal Savings and Wilson Art in Temple and for D and M Grain in Rosebud'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
What was given remains, even when the giver is gone.
Helen Marie Ranly, 85 of Westphalia, died Tuesday May 5, 2026 in a Temple Assisted Living. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia. Rev. Ranjan Cletus will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westphalia.Mrs. Ranly was born on October 3, 1940 in the Wilson community near Rosebud to Arnold and Rosalee Hoelscher Bartek. She graduated from Rosebud High School in1959 and the Durham Business College. She married Melvin Ranly on October 15, 1960. She worked for First Federal Savings and Wilson Art in Temple and for D and M Grain in Rosebud. She was a member of the Church of the Visitation where for many years she played the organ and was the choir director. She was also a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed quilting as one of her hobbies.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Bartek and James Bartek and her granddaughter, Ashley Hoelscher.Memorials may be made to Celebration Park in Westphalia.Survivors include her husband, Melvin Ranly of Westphalia, one son, Gary Ranly and wife Stephanie of Seaton, one daughter, Cheryl Sell and husband James of Rosebud, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m.
