The family of Jonathan D. Pratt of Berkeley County, SC announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.
A life remembered begins, simply, with the telling.
Jonathan held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
Faith gave Jonathan a place to stand, and a place to return to.
Jonathan "Jon" David Pratt, age 17, stepped into Heaven on Tuesday April 28th in Berkeley County, SC. Born on September 19, 2008, in Connersville, IN, he was the beloved son of Brent Lee Pratt and Julie Christine Williams Pratt.
Jonathan was homeschooled his entire life and had recently completed his Junior year. He was an active member of Tri-City Baptist Church, where he enjoyed the fellowship and mentorship of many of the older members. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 6. He was greatly encouraged by the preaching of Kenny Baldwin and Kurt Skelly. He loved attending Teen Extreme Church Camp at Pensacola Christian College. Jonathan never met a stranger and loved hearing the stories that many men would share about their lives. He had the gift of service and loved to help anyone in need. He had hopes of serving his country by joining Border Patrol when he turned 21. In the mean time he was excited to start training to be a welder. He was an amazing piano player. He loved playing airsoft, paintball, exploring World War II history, and was an avid Star Wars enthusiast. Jonathan was a true outdoorsman, spending time camping, hiking and appreciating nature. He previously belonged to Trail Life USA and liked to camp in the snow and make cowboy coffee over the campfire. He served his community briefly as an Explorer Jr Firefighter in Berkeley County.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dennis Pratt, uncles, Chris Pratt and Joe Williams. He is survived by his parents of Summerville; sisters Emma Pratt of Summerville and Abigail George (Devin) of Kempton, IN; grandmother Lynda Pratt of Orestes, IN; grandparents Gary Williams (Rhonda) of Benton, LA; niece Avery George; uncles Kurt Pratt (Melissa) of Summitville, IN; Bart Pratt of Alexandria, IN and numerous cousins. Special friends Josh Torres of Summerville and his boss and mentor David Boyer of Pinopolis whom he loved.
A funeral service to celebrate Jonathan's life will be held at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Tri-City Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3:30 PM until the service begins. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trail Life USA online, or itsamikething.com via Main Street Inc. c/o Veterans Project PO Box 21 Alexandria, IN 46001 or at Venmo: @Traci-Lane, PayPal: @tmlane
