The family of Judith Graubard Kopp of Gig Harbor, WA announces her passing, and invites all who knew her to remember her here.
These words are offered in her memory — small, but heartfelt.
Some days simply pass; others stay with us forever.
Judith Graubard Kopp, known to all as Judy, passed away on April 29, 2026, at the age of 89.
She was born on June 19, 1936, and was predeceased by her parents, Lena (Levine) Graubard and Louis Graubard, and her brother, David Graubard.
Judy was raised on Long Island, New York, and pursued her studies in fine art at Syracuse University and Parsons School of Design. She continued her artistic training in Paris, focusing on oil painting, and spent several years living in London before eventually settling in New York City.
In New York, Judy met the love of her life, Larry Kopp. They were married in 1987-a year they fondly referred to as "the crash of '87." During her years in New York, Judy transitioned from the arts into the business world, eventually founding her own firm, Ryan Ogilvie, which provided temporary personnel services to leading companies.
A stylish and outspoken New Yorker at heart, Judy embraced life in the city, where she cultivated a wide circle of enduring friendships and enjoyed its rich cultural offerings. She was a devoted patron of the New York City Ballet and took great pleasure in dining out and exploring new restaurants.
She was a loving aunt to her nephews, Peter and Jordan, and a gifted home cook known for creating simple yet elegant meals that inspired friends and chefs alike. Judy also had a deep affection for her pets, who were a constant source of joy throughout her life.
In the early 1990s, Judy and Larry moved to Gig Harbor, Washington, where they made their home. She also cherished time spent in Florida and enjoyed traveling extensively with Larry, both within the United States and abroad.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Kopp; her wonderful nephews, Peter Graubard and Jordan Graubard (Morgann); her dear cousins, Michael Scharf (Fiona) and Gilbert Scharf; and her cherished cat, Jaycee.
