The family of Lewis Albert "Luke" Green of Portsmouth, OH announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.

What remains is memory — and the gratitude of those he loved.

Lewis spent his working life as ['Project Inspector from Rockwell International'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Parenthood is the slow work of love. Lewis did it well.

Lewis "Luke" Albert Green, 90, of Portsmouth, a former Wheelersburg resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Portsmouth Health and Rehab. Luke was born on February 24, 1936, in New Boston, the son of the late Edward and Ruby Irene Salley Green.

A 1954 graduate of Wheelersburg High School, he proudly served in Company D, Medium Tank Battalion in the U.S. Army, where he received a Good Conduct Medal, and in the U.S. Air Force. Luke was also a member of the Wheelersburg First Church of Christ.

He retired as a Project Inspector from Rockwell International, and he was an avid golfer. Luke was also an owner and trainer of racehorses, mainly at the former Beulah Park, Ohio's first thoroughbred racetrack. He was also a longtime member of the Ohio Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association.

Surviving are his children, Gordon Green and Gina Green, both of Baltimore, MD; his sister, Virginia May 'Ginny' Copley, of Portsmouth; his granddaughter, Gianna Dorwart; several nieces, nephews and their families; and Spotty, his beloved dog.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Kenneth Green, Patsy Whitt, and Betty Miller.

Arrangements are pending at this time.
