Marlene M. Smith, age 57, of Westerville, OH, passed away May 2, 2026. She was born in Toledo, OH, on October 10, 1968, to Zuella (Meek) Czerniak and the late Edwin Czerniak. Marlene took great pride in her work, spending 15 years at Huntington Bank. She found joy in the little things like watching "The Golden Girls," and tending to her flowers. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends while always taking great care of them. Known for her generous spirit, Marlene loved her dogs and cared deeply about the world around her. She loved to recycle and was passionate about doing what was right. She especially loved celebrating the 4th of July and Christmas. She will be missed dearly. She is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Zach and Taylor (Alex Myer); mother, Zuella Czerniak; and siblings, Sharon Stump (Don), Sue Kosakowski, Jackie Mohr, and Edwin Czerniak (Shelly). Marlene was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Czerniak, and her brother, Doug Haumesser. Friends may call Monday, May 11, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville Ohio. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the funeral home with Fr. Jonathan Wilson officiating. Following the service, a celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 171, 393 E. College Ave, Westerville OH, 43081.
