The family of Paul Edward McCarthy Jr. of Burlington, NC announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.

Paul spent his working life as ['Hanes Corporation as a customer service representative'] and held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

A life of faith is rarely a life of certainty — but always one of trust.

Paul Edward McCarthy, Jr., 84, of Burlington, NC passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

A native of Derby, Connecticut, he was son of Paul Edward McCarthy, Sr. and Mary Homa McCarthy, both deceased. He retired from Hanes Corporation as a customer service representative. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Survivors include his cousins, Mary and Dennis McLaughlin and family of Washington, NJ, Betsy and Ivy Geloso of Beacon Falls, CT, Amy and Richard Stebbins of Naugatuck, CT, Carrie and Anthony Lombard and family of Wolcott, CT; and friend, Lise Adams of Sophia, NC.

Paul was preceded in death by Aunt Ann and cousin Alex Zygmunt and family; Uncle Mike and Aunt Carol Homa; and Uncle Steven and Aunt Jean Homa.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
