Wayne Allen Hendon, 90, of Memphis, Tennessee, departed this life on Sunday, May 3. He was born on January 11, 1936 in Savannah, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Clemmon and Bertha Hendon.On January 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Johnnie Kate Briley, who survives.Wayne retired as a GS-12, a "Bird-Colonel", from the Air Force and the Memphis Defense Depot after 28 years of service for his country.He was a loving husband and father, who was affectionately nicknamed "Duck". His favorite game was billiards. He somewhat fancied himself as a "pool shark".Wayne is survived by his wife of 71 years, Johnnie Kate Briley Hendon of Memphis, Tennessee; sons, Steve Hendon and Phillip Hendon, both of Savannah, Tennessee; daughters, Connie (Rocky) LaKatos of Morris Chapel, Tennessee and Teresa (Mike Willoughby) Ferraris of Memphis, Tennessee; brother, Drexel (Betty) Hendon of Memphis, Tennessee; and sister, Faye Kirkman of Crump, Tennessee. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Oather Hendon and sister, Joann Brewer.
