The family of William "Bill" Alexander Morris of Tylertown, MS announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.

Below, the simplest tribute: the truth of a life as it was lived.

William held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

A life of faith is rarely a life of certainty — but always one of trust.

William “Bill” Alexander MorrisMarch 16, 1941 – May 4, 2026William Alexander “Bill” Morris, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. He was born on March 16, 1941, in Tylertown, Mississippi, to Algy and Estelle Morris of Dexter, Mississippi.Bill was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ann Johnson Morris, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. To say they were inseparable would be an understatement. Ann was truly Bill’s cornerstone, faithfully by his side through every season of life. They loved sharing mornings over coffee and enjoyed countless Saturday night trips to their favorite po’ boy stands. Their marriage stood as a beautiful example of enduring love, partnership, and unwavering devotion through some of the hardest seasons life had to offer.Bill grew up in a time when family and friendships were deeply valued, and he often spoke fondly of the many family members and loved ones who shaped his early years. He attended Dexter High School, graduating in 1957, and was a lifelong member of Crystal Springs Baptist Church. After high school, Bill served in the National Guard, an experience he spoke of often. In 1962, he was deployed during the Oxford Incident, commonly referred to as the “Battle of Oxford.” His time in service remained an important and meaningful part of his life.Following his service, Bill worked in the pulpwood business before discovering his true passion in farming. In 1979, he began his dairy farm, dedicating the next 30 years to building and maintaining it. His commitment and hard work earned him recognition as a Soil Conservationist Award winner and Dairyman of the Year in Walthall County.Even in retirement, Bill remained active and found joy in caring for his varied collection of peacocks, pheasants, and chickens. Rarely venturing far from home, he could often be found on his front porch—checking on neighbors, tinkering around the house, or visiting local country stores where he enjoyed conversation and laughter with friends. Bill spent nearly his entire life within the borders of the Dexter community and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. With his larger-than-life personality and great sense of humor, he was someone you could never forget, and he truly loved the simple, outdoor life he built.Bill is survived by his children, Kathy (Bruce) Knippers of Tylertown, Mississippi, and William (Paula) Morris of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; his sister, Judy (William) Fortenberry of Madison, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Noelle (BJ) Storey, Dylan Knippers, Tripp Morris, Tucker Morris, and Truitt Morris; and his great-granddaughter, Luna Storey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Morris; his parents, Algy and Estelle Morris; and other cherished family members.Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Crystal Springs Baptist Church, 941 Hwy 48 E, Tylertown, MS 39667, from 10:00 AM until service time at 12:00 PM with Bro.
