James David Walters of Lexington, KY has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

Here is the shape of a life remembered with love.

Years are made of mornings, and mornings of moments.

James "David" Walters passed away on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on July 21st, 1946 to James and Louise Lizer Walters, both of whom predeceased him. He grew up in Bethel, OH and after graduating from Bethel-Tate High School, attended Milligan Bible University and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University. He was employed by Square D for over 35 years. Survivors include his wife Mary Sue Owsley Walters, a son: John David (Christy) Walters, a step-daughter: Deborah (Bruce) Wall and a step-son, David (Carolyn Belloni) Warmouth; three granddaughters; Madyson (Colin) Walter-McDonald, Abbygail Walters and Cora Walters; step granddaughter, Stephania (Jon) Ashby; two great granddaughters; sisters, Vicki (Jack) Dehner and Rebecca Debre and many cousins, nephews and nieces and his four legged family dogs and cats. He was a member of Tates Creek Christian Church and loved western square dancing, hiking and camping.

A celebration of Life will be held on July 25, 2026 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00am till 12:30pm with a memorial by Brother Seth Adamson. A private family service will be held at The Lexington Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested for the Lexington Humane Society.
