James S. Culbert of Manchester, NH, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

James S. Culbert, 66, of Manchester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 22, 2026, at his home.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Francis Patrick Culbert and Florette Poirier Culbert. He was a proud graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1978. Jim spent many years working as a manufacturing line supervisor at Rockwell Automation in Manchester, NH, where he was respected for his leadership and dedication.
Jim battled stroke and heart disease for many years with quiet strength and resilience. Despite these challenges, he rarely complained and never burdened others. He was an avid sports fan who loved all Boston teams, especially the Boston Red Sox. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and found happiness in activities such as hunting, fishing, golf, and horseshoes. He especially cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren on weekends, sharing stories and laughter with friends, helping out at his friend's garage, and relaxing at home watching movies with his beloved cat, Buddy.
Jim will be remembered as a man with a big heart who always saw the goodness in others. He instinctively put others first, and his warm smile-often accompanied by a twinkle in his eye-could brighten anyone's day. With a sharp mind and a gift for conversation, he could connect with people from all walks of life.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, several social clubs, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Jim is survived by his loving children, Michael P. Culbert of Bedford, NH and Kathline F. Culbert of Manchester, NH; his cherished grandchildren, Nathan, Zachary, and Katelina; his sister, Dawn Marie Castner of China Village, ME; and his brothers, John Culbert of Dracut, MA, Timothy Culbert Sr. of Winthrop, ME, and Joseph Culbert of Lowell, MA. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick Culbert of Pelham, NH. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Jim was a humble man who touched many lives and will be missed deeply.
Family and friends are invited to his calling hours on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, 978-452-6361. On Saturday, May 2, 2026, his Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. at the funereal home, his Funeral Mass will be offered at Saint Rita's Church, 158 Mammoth Rd, Lowell, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
