Jean Louise Gosling of Marblehead, MA, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.
What follows is written with love, by those who knew her best.
Jean spent her working life as ['early childhood daycare'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
There are losses that teach us the weight of a life.
Jean Louise (Karydis) Gosling of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Marblehead, MA passed away at Good Samartian Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL while under the care of Vitas Healthcare and Hospice Services following a prolonged illness at the age of 79 years. Born and raised on the North Shore of Masssachusetts, Jean was the daughter of Virginia (Banks) Karydis and Thomas Karydis. Jean grew up in Marblehead, MA where she graduated Marblehead High School in 1965. She went on to attend North Shore Community College and then completed her degree at University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA in 1969. In 1970 she married Keith W. Gosling with whom she shared 25 years of marriage raising her two daughters Sharon Lee and Jennifer Ann.
Jean began her working career in early childhood daycare. She then went on to work in the insurance industry in underwriting and sales for 20+ years. She was an active member of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women throughout her professional career.
She enjoyed her time with her family and friends vacationing many summers at the Ames Farm Inn in New Hampshire, sailing out of Salem Harbor and the North Shore of MA waters, attending the North Shore Music Theater as a season ticket holder for many years, going to more concerts than we can mention, and her love of gardening.
Her biggest goal in her last year of life was to make it back up to Marblehead, MA to attend her 60th high school reunion. She not only attended the reunion but was also able to spend time with family and friends in MA that she has not seen in several years.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Gonick and her husband Sean of Reading, MA, daughter Jennifer Gosling of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, grandson Devin Klink of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, grandson Tyler Gonick of Reading, MA, her brother Thomas Karydis of Palm Springs, CA, sister Patricia (Knowlton) Adams of Burlington, MA, and nephew Sean Murray and great-nephew Keanu Murray, both of MA. She was predeceased by her parents Virginia Karydis, Thomas Karydis, Ralph Knowlton and ex-husband Keith Gosling.
We would like to personally thank the team of nurses and caregivers at Vitas Healthcare who assisted our mom in her last months of life. The care and compassion that they gave her will last in our hearts forever.
Burial will be private.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Marblehead, MA at a later date.
