What Jennifer loved
Faith

Jennifer Rebecca Monroe of Denton, TX has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of her story.

Jennifer held deeply to the Latter-day Saints faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Belief, when lived, becomes a kind of inheritance.

In Loving Memory of Jennifer MonroeJennifer Monroe, born Jennifer Lake, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of April 18, 2026, at her home in Denton, Texas. She was born on March 20, 1975, in Phoenix, Arizona, and moved to Texas in 1993 once she graduated High School, where she built a beautiful life rooted in family, friendship, and faith.Jennifer was the heart of her family. She shared 21 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Barry Monroe, and together were raising three children: Eli (12) , Emellia (10), and Ellianna (8), who were truly the center of her world. She also loved her stepson, Derrick, as her own, and cherished his wife, Ashlyn, and their two children, who brought her so much joy. She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Cindy Lake, and her father, Daniel Lake (and wife Mary). She was also deeply shaped by her stepparents, Tim Lake who was married to Cindy and Sharon Lake who was married to Daniel who were a steady presence for much of her life and helped raise her, remaining important parts of who she was.Jennifer is survived by all of her siblings, Hal Shaffer, Kevin Lake, Timothy Lake, Sarah Ellis, Mary Horn, Stephen Lake, Nathan Lake, and Aaron Lake, along with their spouses and 19 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.Though life often had most of them spread across the country and time together in person was limited, she held love for each of them in her heart, and cherished the connection they shared despite the distance. She was also blessed with two lifelong friends, Brandi Monzingo and Jaime Moczygemba, who were more like sisters than friends. Their bond was a constant source of love, laughter, and support throughout her life.A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jennifer lived her faith through quiet acts of kindness, compassion, and service. She loved deeply and fiercely, especially when it came to her children, and she gave of herself endlessly to those around her. Jennifer will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering integrity, and the way she made people feel seen and loved. Her laughter could light up a room, and her wisdom and strength were gifts to everyone who knew her.Services will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4501 Teasley Lane, Denton, Texas 76210.
