JoAnn Riggleman of Woodstock, VA has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

A life remembered begins, simply, with the telling.

Time has its way of binding people together.

JoAnn Riggleman, 66, of Woodstock, VA, passed away on April 26, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply and cherished beyond words.

In her final moments, she looked around at those who were able to be by her side and said, "I love all of you," while holding close a picture of her beloved dog, Roscoe.

He was her saving grace, bringing her unconditional love, comfort, and constant companionship. At the end of each day, nothing made her happier than heading home to cuddle up with Roscoe in their favorite recliner, watching TV together.

JoAnn was employed at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital for nearly 12 years in Environmental Services. She was a dedicated employee who took pride in her work and, as she would say, enjoyed "most" of her co-workers.

It was there she met Donna Shipe, who became not just a coworker, but a true and cherished friend. Our family is deeply grateful to Donna for the unwavering love, support and friendship they shared.

She had a special love for Mickey Mouse and found joy in shopping-especially when it came to purses or rings with precious stones. A truly great day in her book might also include a new tattoo or piercing, something she embraced with her signature spirit.

JoAnn "Big Clown" shared a very special and playful bond with her great-niece, Shauna "Little Clown," a relationship that brought smiles, laughter, and lasting memories to them both.

JoAnn had a heart full of love to give and a mouth like a sailor. You never had to wonder how she felt-she was honest, bold, and unapologetically herself, and that is exactly how she will be remembered.

JoAnn now reunites with those who went before her, including her father, Roy Wheeler; her mother, Evaline (Peer) Wheeler Chaney; and her stepfather, Edward Chaney. She is also reunited with her brother, Roy "Frank" Wheeler; her sister, Kathy L. Hoover; her brother-"by"-law, Larry W. Green (a joke between them); her nephew, Mike "Mikey" Wheeler; and her niece, Beverly M. Nethers.

She leaves behind and will be lovingly missed by her most beloved companion, Roscoe, her faithful dog; her siblings, Nilda N. Green, Mike O. Wheeler and wife Debbie, Robert Chaney and wife Susan; her sons, Roger "Odell" Hoover and Matthew "Shane" Hoover; her grandchildren, Matthew, Vicki, Adam, Shanna, Alexia, Austin, and Destiny, along with two great-grandchildren;a brother, Gary Chaney; her nieces and nephews, Jodi, Tasha, Christopher, April, Ann, Amy, Jennifer, Amanda, Wayne, Chris, James, and Sierra; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

The following prayer, written by her granddaughters Vicki and Shanna on behalf of all who love her.

Dear God,

Thank you for the life you gave for our Grandmother. Thank you for her love, kindness, and the memories she gave us. We miss her deeply, and our hearts hurt knowing she's gone. Please keep her close in our hearts. Help us find comfort in the moments we shared and strength to get through this loss. Let her love stay with us each and every day.

We find peace knowing our Grandmother is at rest now. Though we miss her deeply, we hold onto the promise that she is free from pain and surrounded by God's love. Her memory will always be a blessing to us.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain." - Revelation 21:4

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of JoAnn's deep love to her beloved companion, Roscoe, a private pet care fund has been established to ensure his continued care.
