John Samuel Herrington of Hebron, KY has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

What you read below is one part of a life lived with quiet purpose.

A name is a small thing to hold a whole life.

John Samuel Herrington, 68, of Hebron, Kentucky, passed away on May 2, 2026. Born on August 27, 1957, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, John was the son of the late Buford Kenton Herrington and Thelma Faith (née Shell). He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his beloved wife, Tina McGlasson, with whom he shared 23 wonderful years. He was a devoted stepfather to Allison Ford (Joe) and Amber Lovins (Larry), and a proud grandfather to his grandchildren Corbin, Nash, Bentley, Preston, Paisley and Harper. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Herrington.

John was truly one of a kind. A passionate animal lover, he adored his dogs-River, Penny, Nacho, and BJ-who brought him endless companionship, joy and now joins his beloved dog Chloe in heaven. He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially time spent at camp, and could often be found enjoying the simple pleasures of nature. John also had a lifelong appreciation for firearms and took great pride in his collection, sharing a deep respect for the craftsmanship, history, and tradition they represented. Known for his strong opinions and unmistakable personality, John had a charm that reminded many of a classic, old-school character-set in his ways, quick with a remark, and never shy about sharing his thoughts. Beneath that exterior, however, was a loyal and caring man who loved his family deeply. John also had a lifelong appreciation for motorcycles, especially his Harley-Davidson Road King, and enjoyed all things mechanical and hands-on. His interests were as bold and spirited as he was.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cincinnati Children's Hospital or a local humane society in John's memory.

John will be remembered for his humor, his passion for life, and the lasting impression he left on everyone who knew him. A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later point in time.
