Katherine Virginia Chambliss of Forsyth, GA, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

What remains is memory — and the gratitude of those she loved.

Katherine held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

What is held in faith is rarely lost.

Service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 299 Union Hill Drive, Forsyth, Georgia. Burial in Rest Haven Cemetery, 525 Hwy. 83 South, Forsyth, Georgia. Service is scheduled to be Streamed Live on our Facebook Page.

Public Viewing will be Friday, May 8, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Keep the family in prayer.

Katherine Virginia Chambliss was born in Forsyth, Georgia on July 9, 1946 to the parentage of Mose and Minnie Clements. She departed this earthly life on April 26, 2026. She is preceded in death by one son: Alex Vernard Chambliss; her parents Mose and Minnie Clements; two sisters, Lizzie Kate Shelly, Annie Beatrice Scott and one brother Joe Clements.

Katherine and her three boys moved to Atlanta in 1974 after her marriage to her former husband Rufus Chambliss Jr. She was a loving mother to her sons and a devoted daughter to her mother.

Katherine attended Hubbard Elementary and Hubbard High. She later continue her education at Atlanta Metro Skill Center for Clerical Training; Vocational Technical School for Medical Secretary Training and DeKalb Community College for Child Care and Development. She worked several years as a Medical Secretary for the Director of Nursing at Georgia Department of Human Resources. She joined Hopewell United Methodist Church in Monroe County at an early age. Later she joined the Greater Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church (The House of Hope Atlanta in Decatur Georgia). Katherine was a faithful and devoted member of her Church for over 45yrs. She participated in several church activities as well as she was an active member of the ERSS Choir.

She is survived by two sons, Robert and Malcolm Jones of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Alice Thomas of Forsyth, GA; one daughter in-law Geraldine Jones of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons Titus Rowell Jones and Alex Karsten Chambliss II of Atlanta, GA: one great-grand daughter Summer Rowell Jones of Atlanta, GA . Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
