Laura M. Lamers of Fond du Lac, WI has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

What follows is a brief look at the life her family wishes to share.

Laura spent her working life as ['Certified Nursing Assistant in assisted living facilities'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

To raise a child is to give the world a future. Laura did this with care.

On April 30, 2026, Laura Miriam Lamers (Schafer) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Laura was born on September 29, 1987, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Kurt and Lisa Schafer. She was the youngest of three children, Abigail, who proceeded Laura in death, Amy and then Laura. The perfect butterfly to complete a close-knit family that she cherished deeply.

Laura graduated from Madison East High School and went on to attend Marian University, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work. During that time, she met her soulmate, Jeffery, whom she married, thus beginning a love story that would become one of the most important segments of her life.

Laura lived her life to the fullest, never complaining about the challenges that tried to hold her back, and facing each day with strength, grace, and an open heart.

Anyone who knew Laura understood just how special she was. She loved with her whole heart and had a rare gift for bringing people together. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Laura was selfless in every sense of the word, always putting others before herself. Laura found her true calling in caring for others. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in assisted living facilities, before transitioning those skills into hospice care work. She later became an administrator at a senior living facility, where she continued to touch countless lives with her compassion and dedication.

Laura's life was a testament to love, service, and connection. The world will never be the same without her, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Laura is survived by her loving family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Celebrate Laura's life, as she lived it fully and beautifully. She was surrounded by so many wonderful people and moments, with far more love than pain or sickness. Though there is sadness in her passing, she would not want that to be what remains. Instead, remember the laughter, the joy, and the memories shared. Hold them close, tell the stories, and cherish them always. She will be there in spirit for every milestone, forever a part of the lives she touched.

A special thank you to Preceptor Home Health, Hospice and Palliative Care for all of the amazing care given to Laura, her family, and friends during this time. It did not go unnoticed.

A celebration of Laura's life will be held on May 30, 2026, at Zacherl Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a small service to follow.

Please wear casual clothes, pink or a funny, yet (tasteful) t-shirt that would have made Laura laugh.

In lieu of flowers please contact the family as a Certified Nursing Assistant scholarship will be set up in Laura's name at a later date.
