Lisa spent her working life as ['cosmetology'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Every life leaves an echo in the lives it has known.
Lisa Michelle Burris, age 59, of Clarksdale, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Gower Convalescent Center in Gower, MO.
Lisa was born on June 27, 1966, in St. Joseph, MO to Thomas Arthur and Oma Frances (Sharp) Burris. A lifelong resident of the Clarksdale area, Lisa was a 1984 graduate of Maysville High School. Lisa loved the Clarksdale community which was evident in her service on the Clarksdale City Council and in her many lifelong area friendships. She was proud to be a part of a town that took care of, and looked out, for each other.
While in high school, Lisa also attended St. Joseph Beauty University beginning in 1982, where she graduated and began a 40-year career in cosmetology. With a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Lisa purchased Chuck's Hair Center from her boss, Chuck Pfander in 1992. Her "shop" became her life's work and a gathering place for so many treasured friends that she made in her "family" of clients. Her neighborhood shop was a place of laughter, cheer, many stories, and even sometimes tears among friends. Her welcome of "Hey, How are you?" was a comforting greeting for all those who entered. She was incredibly thankful for the generous support of her clients, particularly during her year-long cancer battle.
Lisa loved her family. She was the youngest of seven children and had great pride in being a Burris and one of Tom and Oma's kids. She found great joy in finding just the right gift for one of her many nieces and nephews. Always ready to help, Lisa was a consistent source of support and ready to work hard for anyone that needed it.
She is survived by five siblings, Ron Burris (Barbara), Debbie Sue Mauzey, Pete Burris, Rob Burris (Chris), Paul Burris (Tina), brother-in-law, Terry Brizendine (Jimmye), and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Oma, her father, Tom (Bernice), her sister, Elaine Brizendine and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
