Mary Cae Zdrazil-Scott of Pocahontas, IA has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

Mary spent her working life as ['the High School as a cook for many years'] and held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Faith is a quiet companion through a long life. Mary's walked beside her.

Mary Cae Zdrazil-Scott, age 76, of Pocahontas, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.
Mary Cae Zdrazil was born on December 25, 1949, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was the daughter of James and Marcella (Hronek) Zdrazil and was raised in Pocahontas. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1967. Mary Cae worked at Rockwell Collins for a short time then returned to Pocahontas where she worked at Wood's Supermarket. Following Wood's, she worked at the High School as a cook for many years, then lastly at the Pocahontas Community Hospital where she retired in the early 2000s. On December 15, 2003, Mary Cae was united in marriage to Gordy Scott in Newell, Iowa. The couple lived on the farm until 2017 when they moved into Pocahontas. Gordy passed away in 2024 and Mary Cae continued to make her home in Pocahontas.
Mary Cae was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and the Ladies Society. She enjoyed spending time at Okoboji, gardening and being outside. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and being the entertainer for all family gatherings and events.
She is survived by her children, Steph Barrett of Waukee and Stephen (Angie) Zdrazil of Fort Dodge; step-sons, Chris (Tricia Mouw) Scott of Sioux Falls, SD and Jamie (Audrey) Scott of West Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons; siblings, Roger (Doris) Ollinger of Cedar Rapids, Sally (Ray) Krips of Pocahontas, Jayne (Dean) Beneke of Pocahontas and Al (JoAnn) Zdrazil of Pocahontas, and sister-in-law, Jean Zdrazil of Newport Beach, CA.
Mary Cae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordy; siblings, Sandi Schlueter, Connie Ward and Jim Zdrazil; step-son, Jason Scott, and brother-in-law, Joe Schlueter.
