Mary Ruth Rogers of Fulton, MS, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.

Mary held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

What is held in faith is rarely lost.

Mary Ruth (Purser) Rogers, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April, 21, 2026 at the Courtyards Community Living Center in Fulton, MS. She was born on March 11, 1937 in Nettleton, MS to parents Don Purser and Gussie (Oliver) Hand. She was a lifelong resident of the Nettleton area and she was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed reading, going to church, cooking and spending time with family.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, April 23, 2025 at Jones Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Wesley Stephens officiating.

There will be no public visitation.

She is survived by two sons, Tim Rogers (Ann), Steven Rogers (Melissa), four grandchildren, Joshua Rogers, Cody Rogers, Elizabeth Chaney, Tyler Rogers, six great grandchildren, Makenzi Reed, Anna Brook Rogers, Dakota Rogers, Colton Rogers, Prent Gable, Maylen Gable, two great great grandchildren, Aurora Reed, Adam Reed, two brothers, Gene Hand, Wilbur Hand, one sister, Ann Ricks and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, Louis Cebe Rogers and two brothers, Grady Hand, Jr. and John Hand.
