Matthew K. McCallister of Palatka, FL, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.
Below, the simplest tribute: the truth of a life as it was lived.
Matthew spent his working life as ['general laborer in the building construction industry'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
It is the small moments that often matter most.
Matthew "Buck" McCallister, 53, of Palatka passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Jacksonville, Matt grew up in the Bardin area and was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. He worked as a general laborer in the building construction industry, as he'd say, a jack of all trades, a master of none. In his leisure time, he enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, singing, playing the guitar, and making memories with his family and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Corbet and Pauline Cone; paternal grandparents, Sonny and Shirley Feagin; and his uncle Randy Cone.
He is survived by his wife, Susan McCallister of Palatka; parents, Ricky and Sherri Feagin of Gray, GA; sister, Robin Wilkinson; brother, Jacob Feagin; daughters, Amber McCallister and Shana Middleton; sons, Dylan McCallister and Spencer Middleton; five grandchildren, Bryson Blizzard, Hannah Hubbart, Hank "Peanut" Hubbart, Madelynn McCallister, and Brantley Matthew Hubbart arriving in September; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be 12:00 noon Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Etoniah Cemetery in Bardin with Pastor Joe Young officiating. Friends may call at graveside after 11:00 a.m.-one hour before the start of the service.
Condolence messages of sympathy may be shared on Matthew's online tribute page at: themastersfuneralhome.com.
Arrangements are under the care of Masters Funeral Home of Palatka.
