Montie William Tracy was born to Virgil Clair Tracy and Florence Matthews in Platteville, Wisconsin on 30 March 1930. He died on 4 May 2026 in Draper, Utah. His age was 96 years 1 month and 4 days. From the time he was 9 months old until he was 4 he lived in a log cabin on his mother's family farm. He was surrounded by Aunts and Uncles whom he loved and who always set a fine example for him.

He went to school at a younger than normal age because his older sister Betty refused to attend without him. He loved reading and learned many things in his life by study and research. He felt that most of the things he learned were self taught.

The first time he lived on his own was when he was in the Military. When he was on the ship to Japan he realized that he was not sea sick at all, and since a great number of soldiers were ill, he had a wonderful opportunity to eat as much as possible. He loved the food and this was the first time in his life that he was able to eat a wide variety of foods. He received IBM training in the military which later led him to getting a job with IBM.

His parents and three of his siblings joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while he was stationed in Japan. Upon returning to Wisconsin and living in Madison he sought out the church, gained a testimony and was baptized, Years later his wife and daughters also joined the church and he was sealed to them.

He moved to California to begin his career, and that is where he met his wife. She worked for Bank of America and he serviced the bank machines. He loved her.

He also had a love affair with the National Parks, he lived for his week of vacation each year and would head for the mountains with his family. He hiked every trail in Sequoia National Park and many in Kings Canyon. All through his life he enjoyed camping and seeing different National Parks.

Montie had one son and three daughters, David (Pamela) Tracy, Diana (Ken) Eschman, Debra (David) Mitchell and Marcella (Mark) Peek. He also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Montie was happiest when he was with Margaret. When Margaret passed away Montie grieved every day and wished he could join her quickly.

He was dependable, he was loyal, he loved his family. He would help any member of his family or neighbor if they were in need. He was a man of faith, and tried his best to set a good example for his children.

He said "Greatest of all, I know and can see the guidance and help and blessings of God in everything that happened in my life."
