Mr. Claude Bub "Bub" Wright of Columbus, IN, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

Here is what we wish the world to know of Mr..

Mr. spent his working life as ['Tool and Die maker for several years and then switched to building'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

It is in the silence afterward that we hear how loud a life was.

Claude "Bub" Edward Wright, Jr., 71, of Columbus passed away in his sleep at home in his bed the morning of May 4, 2026.

Bub was born July 15, 1954, to Claude and Nevada Wright in Seymour, Indiana.

After high school Bub married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life Kathy on June 16, 1972, and soon started a family. Bub worked as a Tool and Die maker for several years and then switched to building. Bub was a Journeyman carpenter. He was proficient in all aspects of building houses, remodeling, finish work and design. He was a self-taught draftsman and drew the houses he built. Construction was a family business and Bub was fortunate to work with his father, his sons, his sisters, his brothers-in-law, and he made many lifelong friends over the decades. His brother-in-law Martin (Marty) Cox was there by his side for the better part of his life, although Marty was more of a real brother than "in-law" to Bub. He loved Marty.

People who loved Bub knew him as a storyteller. Bub could talk, tell stories and entertain you for hours. Bub never ran out of words. Bub was a generous guy with his time and if someone needed help or had a flat tire, he would be there with a jack and tools necessary. Bub was always someone you could count on!

Bub's family and friends loved him, and he made a lasting mark on their lives. Although many of us are sad that Bub is no longer here are earth with us, we rejoice that today he is in paradise with his lord and savior. Bub wants you to be there with him, so if you haven't asked Jesus to come into your heart do it now and someday you will get to hear Bub tell his stories again. Bub tried the best he could before his cancer diagnosis and especially after to be a living witness for the risen Christ.

Bub is survived by his wife of almost 54 years Kathy, his sons Martin E. (Cristin) of Brownsburg and Philip E. (Abigail) of Columbus, his father Claude (Carolyn) Wright, and his sisters Diana Grimes (Jeff Cheek), Sandra (Bobby) Maggard, and Cheryl (Steve) Jesse. Bub was a Papaw to Nathaniel, Haley, Carsen, Madlen, and Bethany Wright. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bub was preceded in death by his mother Nevada Wright.

Do you whatever is most comfortable for you in honoring Bub, whether it's flowers, saying a prayer for Bub's wife Kathy and family, or donating to cause of your choosing-all are welcomed, but most important making sure that you follow in Bub's path as a witness for Christ.

The funeral service for Bub will be held Saturday May 9, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at New Hope Christian Church in Columbus with John Sichting officiating. Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday until time of service.

Bub will be laid to rest at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery following the service.
