After a life of love and quiet grace, Brantie Howard Nottingham of Strange Creek, WV has passed.

Some lives speak quietly; his is one such story.

The lessons of a parent travel forward, often without their name attached.

Brantie Howard Nottingham, 87, of Strange Creek, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Clay Healthcare Center. He was surrounded by his children and two of his favorite nurses.

Born on August 27, 1938, in Strange Creek, West Virginia, Brantie was the son of the late Charlie Allen Nottingham and Vera Susie Johnson Nottingham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Minnie Jean Nottingham; brothers Fred Nottingham, Ferrell Nottingham, Johnny Nottingham, and Danna Nottingham; sisters, Marie Duffield, Mae Mix, Mabel Westbrook, Mamie Sears, Laura Harold, and Bertha Sirk.

He is survived by his three children: Diane Frame (Teddy), Clinton Nottingham (Jeannie), and Vickie Nottingham. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Eric Frame (Michelle), Casie Boggs (Scott), Terra Nottingham, Tonya Smith (Robert), and Adam Nottingham. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Gracie Boggs, Jaidyn Boggs, Tali Burdette, Bryson Smith, Harley Smith, and Cole Frame; also his sister, Lona Sanders.

Brantie worked at Polson Rubber Company for 21 years in Garrettsville, OH. He moved his family to WV in 1977 and started working for the Braxton County Board of Education shortly after. He retired from there in 2000, after 21 years of dedicated service.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time outside. Brantie had a green thumb like no other and enjoyed gardening. He loved family reunions, his side-by-side, and especially spending time with his family. But above all, he loved the Lord. He was a member of Peoples Community Church and dearly loved his church family.

Brantie wanted to share his love for the Lord with his whole family. His wish was for his entire family to attend a church service with him, at his church. Instead of a traditional service, we will be worshipping with Brantie one last time on May 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Peoples Community Church, 1702 Flat Fork Road, Duck, WV and burial will be at Nottingham Mountain Cemetery, in Strange Creek. Services will be officiated by Pastor Freddie Schoolcraft and Pastor Daniel Tanner. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service, at the church.

Arrangements by Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV.

Words of comfort and fond memories may be extended to the family at www.roachfuneralhome.com.
