Catherine "Cathy" Wiliszewski, 79, of Old Bridge, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026. Born on July 9, 1946, in Plymouth, PA, she was the beloved daughter of Julius and Catherine Sosnowski.
She graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1964 and went on to earn her degree in Education from College Misericordia, Class of 1968. Cathy began her teaching career in Nanticoke, PA, before eventually settling in New Jersey, where she would make a lasting impact.
Cathy met the love of her life, George, in 1963 while they were both working at the Boston Candy Kitchen. What began as a young romance grew into a deep and enduring bond. After a five-year courtship, they married in 1969 and moved to NJ, where they built a beautiful life together and raised their family.
Cathy and George shared a rare and lifelong love, spending 57 devoted years side by side. George was truly the light in Cathy's life-her constant companion, greatest supporter, and best friend. Their marriage was defined by unwavering commitment, deep affection, and a partnership that carried them through every season of life. Whether traveling the world, raising their family, or simply enjoying quiet moments together, their love remained steady and strong.
Together, they created a lifetime of cherished memories. They loved traveling with their daughter, Lori, exploring the United States and, in later years, the world. From visits to national parks to cruises to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and the Mediterranean, their adventures reflected their shared joy in experiencing life together.
Cathy shared a special bond rooted in deep love, trust, and quiet understanding with her daughter, Lori. Their relationship was one of unwavering support, filled with cherished moments, heartfelt conversations, and gentle care. Together, they created a lifetime of memories that reflected both strength and tenderness, a connection that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who witnessed their love.
A devoted educator, Cathy spent 38 years as a teacher at Schirra Elementary School in Old Bridge. She took immense pride in her work, deeply loved her students, and was equally adored by them. Teaching was not just her profession-it was her passion.
In her spare time, Cathy was an avid crocheter who lovingly created hundreds of lap blankets for donation to nursing homes. She found great joy in giving back and held a special place in her heart for volunteering with the Helping Hands group of Life Choices Resource Center.
Cathy treasured time with her family, especially gathering for dinners filled with laughter and meaningful conversation. She cherished holiday traditions, particularly preparing Christmas Eve and Easter meals that brought loved ones together year after year.
Her role as a grandmother was one of Cathy's greatest joys. She shared a truly special and loving bond with her granddaughter, Marie. Whether through time spent together, heartfelt conversations, or simple everyday moments, Cathy created memories with Marie that will be treasured forever. Their connection was filled with warmth, guidance, and unconditional love-memories that Marie will carry with her always and hold close to her heart.
She was predeceased by her parents, Julius and Catherine Sosnowski; her precious newborn daughter, Donna; her sisters, Mary Sepkowski, Pearl Kinney, and Audrey Miscavage; and her brothers, Alex and Gene Sosnowski.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, George; her cherished daughter, Lori, and son-in-law, Chris; her adored granddaughter, Marie; her sisters-in-law Dorothy Powers and Rita Stepanski; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Cathy will be remembered as a kind and generous soul with a deep love for teaching, volunteering, and, above all, her family. Her enduring love story with George and the special bond she shared with her daughter and granddaughter will remain lasting parts of her legacy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
