After a life of love and quiet grace, Don Stewart of Somerville, AL has passed.

Below, a small portrait of a life that will not soon be forgotten.

Don spent his working life as ['dedicated master painter and auto body specialist'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

The lessons of a parent travel forward, often without their name attached.

Don Stewart, 61, of Somerville, Alabama, passed away on May 3, 2026. He was born on August 1, 1964, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Michael Stewart and the late JoAnn Archuleta Stewart.

Don spent his career as a dedicated master painter and auto body specialist, a craft he perfected through years of hard work and attention to detail. Outside of work, Don was a true outdoorsman who found peace while hunting, fishing, and golfing. On Saturdays in the fall, he could always be found cheering on his favorite team, Alabama Football. He was a man who loved his family deeply and was known for his skilled hands and his devotion to those he held dear.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Stewart; his daughters, Amberlie Stewart Maxwell (Bradley) and Melissa Stewart; and his bonus children, Kody Turner (Stephanie), Nick Turner, Emaleigh Powers, Chris Quick, and Jasmine Cameron. He was a proud and beloved grandfather to Josie Quick. He also leaves behind his father, Michael Stewart; his sisters, Sylvia Lamar, Michele Stewart, and Mary Allen; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Archletta Stewart, and his parents-in-law, Pete and Faye Dempsey.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Dudley, Kody Turner, Nick Turner, Chris Quick, Mike Motes, and Shane Wilhoite.

Honorary pallbearers include Bradley Maxwell and Jameson Pope.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at the Church of God of Prophecy, Summerbrook, in Somerville. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:30 AM until service time.
