After a life of love and quiet grace, Flora H. Sasser of Slocomb, AL has passed.
A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of her story.
Memory has a way of softening time.
Flora H. Sasser, 90, of Panama City, Florida, went to be with her Lord on May 3, 2026. She was born on March 31, 1936, in Slocomb, Alabama.
Flora was raised in Slocomb, where she graduated from high school as the valedictorian of the Class of 1953, a reflection of her dedication and strong work ethic. She went on to build a long and faithful career, first with Berg Pipe and later with the Bay County Tax Collector's Office, where she served until her retirement.
In her later years, Flora found great joy and companionship at the Lynn Haven Senior Center. She had a true love for dancing and could often be found sharing her talent and joy on stage as a performer in the Red Stocking Review. Her vibrant spirit and love of life left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Buddy Holloway; her sister, Gloria Spivey; her grandson, Gerrad Bellard; her granddaughter, Alexandria Palmer; and her stepmother, Joyce Leiper.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughters, Kay Carter and her husband, Mack, and Angela Palmer; her sons, Joe Sasser, Jr. and his wife, Diana, and Chris Sasser. She was a proud grandmother to Julia Scott and her husband, Josh, Kacey Everett and her husband, Derek, Deidre Keckler, Jonathan Palmer, Nicholas Palmer, Andrew Palmer, Ian Joseph Sasser, and Blake Sasser. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Aubrey Keckler, Kendal Scott, Kourtney Scott, Dylan Everett, and Sadie Everett.
She is also survived by her brothers, Benny Holloway and his wife, Pat, and Phillip Green and his wife, Emily; her sister, Brenda Herring and her husband, Don; along with her nephew, Paul Spivey and his wife, Dianne, and her niece, Cathy Powell along with a host of family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, May 11, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home, Panama City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 3:00 pm in the Fadette Pentecostal Ministries Church Cemetery, 5161 AL-103, Slocomb, AL 36375.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Ian Sasser, Jonathan Palmer, Blake Sasser, T.J. Spivey, Oliver Bacchus, and Josh Scott.
