It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Alice J. Shaw of Terre Haute, IN — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Quiet kindness echoes longest.
Alice J. Shaw, 85, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday May 5, 2026 at Cloverleaf Health Care. She was born April 13, 1941 in Vigo County to Dewey and Ruby (Spittler) Linnabary. Alice is survived by her daughters, Mary Harden (James Harlan) and Ruby Collins (Brandon); sons, Charles Shaw III (Brenda) and Dewey Shaw (Mary Jo); sister Linda Clemenz; grandchildren, Alison West (Corky), Charlie Ray Harden (Maggie), Amanda Atkins (Jim), Angela McVay (Grant), Wyatt Collins, and Caroline Collins; great-grandchildren, Lauren Shelley, Kendra Shelley,Grace West, Charlotte Atkins, Gideon Atkins, Atticus Atkins, Tallulah Wickens, Della Harden, Ethan Harden, Lucas McVay, and Waylyn Collins; two great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Shaw, who died July 12, 2009 and sister, Joan Shaw. Alice had a big heart and her favorite thing to do was to cook for and spend time with her family, always attending all the children and grandchildren’s events. She also enjoyed reading and working on puzzles. Visitation will be Thursday May 7, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
