SALEM – Anna E. Porter, 92, of Salem, formerly of Marblehead, died peacefully on May 3rd, 2026 in Danvers. Born in Marblehead, Anna was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Harriet (Carr) Porter.Anna received her early education in Marblehead, graduating from Marblehead High School before going on to earn her Master's degree from Columbia and Fordham Universities. She devoted more than forty years of her life to the teaching profession, touching the lives of countless students throughout her long and distinguished career.The daughter of a sea captain, Anna was born to sail. She was an avid sailor and world traveler who spent her summers cruising the New England coast, at her happiest with the wind at her back and the open water ahead. Her love of the sea was as much a part of her as the salt air of her beloved Marblehead.In addition to her parents, Anna is predeceased by her brothers, Benjamin K. Porter, Jr. and Darrah Porter.Anna is survived by her nephew, Benjamin K. Porter, III, and her niece, Sharon Diepenhorst.ARRANGEMENTS: All services for Anna will be held privately.
