It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Betty Riggs Forbes of Shiloh, NC — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

The traditions Betty loved will continue to hold those she loved.
Betty Riggs Forbes, age 85, of Shiloh, NC, died on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Currituck Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Old Trap, NC, on November 15, 1940, to the late Dennis Riggs and Nelda Burgess Riggs, and was the widow of Dempsey Forbes, Sr.
Betty was a member of Old Trap Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, and the Shrinettes. She enjoyed sewing.
She is survived by her daughter, Nena Williams of VA; her son, Dempsey Forbes, Jr. (JoAnn) of NC; eight grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at a later date at Old Trap Methodist Church.
