It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Beverly Jean Turley Douglas of Pangburn, AR — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Here is what mattered, in the years between the dates.

The years gathered, as years do, into a life.

Beverly Jean Turley Douglas, age 80, returned to her heavenly home on April 30, 2026, at 5:45 p.m. She passed away peacefully at her residence on the Little Red River in Pangburn, Arkansas, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

A lifelong resident of White County and member of Pine View Church of Christ, Beverly was a force of nature from an early age. She established herself as a standout athlete, earning All-State honors in basketball. Her passion and talent for the game took her to the national stage, where she played professionally with the legendary All American Redheads, a feat that remained a point of pride throughout her life. Along with the Redheads, she was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, and the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.

During her life she enjoyed going on cruises with her husband and friends, spending time at the beach, sipping her daily cappuccino, and sitting on her back porch watching the river go by.

Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Allen Douglas; her parents, Lorraine Gipson Turley and Grady Turley; and her brothers, Dale and Jimmy Don Turley.

Her legacy of strength and love continues through her children: her daughter and son-in-law, Bridgitte Douglas Bennett and Ben Bennett; her son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Heather Douglas; and her son, Slade Douglas.

She was a devoted Nana to Isabella and Jackson Bennett, Abbie Douglas and Paige Douglas. She also leaves behind her siblings, Doris Vernon, Jerry Turley, Larry Turley, and Stan Turley, along with several nieces, nephews, and a community of lifelong friends.

Among those who will miss her daily presence is her devoted dog, Salty, who brought her constant comfort and joy.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 3rd, from 5-7p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy, Arkansas.

Graveside Service will be conducted on Monday, May 4th, at 10 a.m.at Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn, Arkansas.
