It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Captain William Too Tall "Too Tall" Humphrey of Riverhead, NY — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Captain Willy "Too Tall" Humphrey, 68, of Riverhead, NY, passed away on May 2, 2026, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
No Funeral services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
William was born in Riverhead, NY to William Haines and Dolores T. Humphrey on April 28, 1958. He attended school at Saint John's Elementary in Riverhead, NY and Riverhead High School.
Willy started his working profession at Callahan's Marina in Hampton Bays, NY in his teenage years. Moving on to Montauk, NY after graduating High School. As a boat Captain, Willy spent his days out on the sea fishing, winning many tournaments. Later, Willy spent some time working in Murrells Inlet, SC. From there, Willy moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where he spent the rest of his life as a well-known, well-respected fisherman, Captain and a man loved by all who knew him. He spent a lot of time fishing in the Bahamas and the Florida Keys, as well as in Panama.
William is survived by oldest sister, Bernadette, older brother Paul, older sister Susanne and older sister Katherine. Willy was the youngest of five siblings. His surviving nephews are Jason Humphrey, Brendan Croke and Dylan Croke and his niece, Heather Newton.
